Chongqing Under Brushes

The microfilm "Chongqin under Brushes" tells the story of a girl in Chongqing who pursues her dream. She loves painting since childhood. When she was six years old, she had the idea to depict the ideal Chongqing with the nib. Chongqing is developing while the girl is growing up; the pursuit of dreams never stop.

Caitlin Duan and Willow Xiong, the initiators of the film, are both junior high school students at Chongqing Foreign Languages School who will study abroad next semester.

"I will go to study abroad in October. She will leave next year, and we will not leave the city. Before you go, you always want to do something" Duan said.

They wanted to make microfilm about their hometown. On June 30, after several rounds of selection, a production, director, scriptwriting, filming and post-production team of 8 people was formed. Besides the school they study, there were students from other schools such as Chongqing No. 8 Middle School, with an average age of 17 or 18.

In their spare time, they went online to learn film shooting techniques. On weekends, check out locations to shoot scenes together. "We choose our teammates in a targeted way, such as filming, not only with the work but also with our shooting tools." Caitlin Duan said.

How to we obtain the funding?

Caitlin Duan and Willow Xiong came up with online crowdfunding and offline sponsorship. They raised nearly 7,000 yuan in three days and 3,000 yuan sponsorship. At the end of the movie premiere, they donated all the money collecting from movie tickets to the local charity to help more people.
